Tutorial Step by Step Install Android 2.3 Gingerbread on HTC Desire, Desire Z, Desire HD.
Since there are a lot of people looking to install a new Android 2.3 Gingerbread OS to their gadget, this article will guide you on how to install it into HTC Desire mobile phone. However this guide only works on the unlocked and rooted device. Since this is a Beta version. It might cause an undesirable result. Therefore, it is best to backup all of your data before proceeding to prevent loss of data. When you are ready to install it, follow these steps:
Boot your HTC Desire, Desire Z, Desire HD in recovery mode by pressing power and back buttons from boot. Press power then with power to select & volume to go up/down, navigate to where it says RECOVER up.
Download the ROM manager application and Clockwork Mod ROM manager from Android Market Place and install them all.
From your PC, download Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM
To install the recovery image and backup the current ROM on your HTC Desire, Desire Z, Desire HD, click on the ROM Manager and then select the Flash Clockwork mod Recovery option.
Connect your HTC Desire, Desire Z, Desire HD with your PC and copy the downloaded ROM from your PC into your device.
Copy the Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM to your SD card by connecting your device to your PC
Open the ROM Manager, select the install ROM from SD Card option, then select the Android 2.3 Gingerbread ROM copied before and install it. Make sure to select the Wipe Data and Cache options before you install it.
ROM Manager will install the Android 2.3 Gingerbread on your gadget and it will cause your device to flicker and restart automatically
If you have any problem, just boot your rooted HTC Desire into recovery mode using ROM Manager and then install the ROM via recovery directly.
